The following sections look at the options for setting up links with the various computer

During the day--to--day use of the calf feeders, the data connection is controlled by the
DAIRYPLAN DP5 process control software ”DPProcessControl”. This program must
always be open or active in the background to enable the calf feeders to communicate with
the computer. When DP5 is installed, this program will be automatically entered in the
computer’s Autostart group so that even if the computer crashes, it will restart automatically
and operation of the feeders can always be guaranteed.
If the program is running in the background, this will be indicated by the DP symbol on the
left--hand side of the Taskbar next to the clock.
In order to be able to operate the automatic feeder using DAIRYPLAN, a number of set-
tings must be entered in DAIRYPLAN and coordinated with each other first of all. The pro-
cess control system must be closed once and then opened again in order to enable the new
settings to be accepted and transferred to the feeders.
NOTE: The program can only be closed by selecting ”File> Close” and then answering
”Yes” to the question as to whether you want to save changes. If you click on ”X” to close
it, the program will continue to run in the background. This will prevent it from being clo-
sed unintentionally.
