Installation
MOVING THE REIONATOR PRO
ULTRA
™
INTO POSITION
Keep the Reionator Pro Ultra™ resin tank upright and
move it into position.
(The resin tank should always
be upright, even during storage and while being
transported to the site.)
Level the system with shims.
Make sure the bypass valve or manifold is attached. At
this point, measure the piping required. Make sure that
the measurements allow for fittings.
BEFORE CUTTING
Shut-off the heat (gas or electricity) to the water heater.
Shut-off
all
water at the main supply valve. Drain the
piping by opening the highest faucet in the plumbing
system and the lowest faucet or drain plug. When the
pipes are drained, install the inlet and outlet piping to the
Reionator Pro Ultra
™
control valve.
When the Reionator Pro Ultra™ is installed, move the
lever on the direct connect bypass valve to the bypass
position. On a three valve bypass system, close the inlet
and outlet valve and open the bypass valve. Water can
now be restored to the building during the rest of the
installation. Check for leaks and correct, if found.
DRAIN LINE CONNECTION
Install 1/2" I.D. plastic tubing from the hose barb located
on the right side of the main control valve to an open
drain.
Do not connect the drain directly to a sewer
as this would violate sanitary codes.
(See Figure
4a)
If the drain line is extremely long, or discharges
above the main control valve, a back pressure may limit
the effectiveness of the injector, drawing brine during
regeneration. A siphon trap (a simple knot or taped loop)
at the outlet of the drain line is advisable to keep the drain
line full and assure correct flow during regeneration.
(See
Figure 4b)
Where the drain line is elevated above the valve
and exceeds 20' in length, a 3/4" I.D. drain line is
recommended. Elbows or other fittings in the drain line
must be kept to a bare minimum. Installation should never
allow for rinsing of brine through water supply lines.

CAUTION:
Never connect drain line directly into drain,
sewer line or trap. Always allow an air gap
between the drain line and waste water to prevent
the possibility of sewage being back siphoned.
