When the
Ready
LED on the front of the appliance is steadily lit, you
can begin the CLI process.

On your administrative workstation, open a terminal window. The
serial connection parameters include the following:
9600bps, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, with Xon/Xoff flow control.

Once the workstation has connected to the security appliance, the
following prompt appears in the terminal window:
watchguard firebox v80 (os 3.X)
WatchGuard login:

Type
admin
(the default root administrative account login name) and
press Enter.

When the password prompt appears, type
admin
and press Enter.
If the login connection is successful, the
WG#
prompt appears.

Type
conf
and press Enter.

When the
WG(config)#
prompt appears, type
system
and press Enter.

When the
WG(config-system)#
prompt appears, type
interface
and
press Enter.
10 When the
WG(config-if)#
prompt appears, type the interface number
(
0
,
1
or
2
), followed by a space, the IP address, another space, the
subnet mask and then press Enter.
Example:
WG(config-if)#
0 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0
11 When the
WG(config-if)#
prompt reappears, type
exit
to submit this
interface address change.
After a moderate pause, a status message will appear, noting the
effective change to this interface.
A new
WG(config)#
prompt appears below this message.
12 Type
exit
at the prompt and press Enter.
The
WG#
prompt reappears.
13 To verify the complete change of addresses, type
show system
interface
at the prompt and press Enter.
A full report appears, followed by the
WG#
prompt.
