On GL models, connect the purple wire to the solenoid “R” ter-
minal in the same manner.

Intake Manifold

Removal

Disconnect power from engine.

Drain water from engine block. See

Draining The Engine

page 33.

If the engine has closed cooling installed, remove drain plugs
from engine block. Catch the coolant from the engine and dis-
pose of properly.

NOTICE!

Volvo Penta closed cooling system engines come
filled with Ethylene Glycol coolant. Follow all local
regulations for the disposal of Ethylene Glycol anti-
freeze.

Disconnect:

Disconnect hoses from thermostat housing.

Disconnect Throttle cable.

Remove cotter pin (1) and washer (2) and remove throttle
cable from throttle lever.

Loosen and remove anchor block bolt (3) and nut (4).

Release cable block (5) and trunnion (6).

Crankcase ventilation hose from rocker arm covers (both sides
if applicable).

Remove:

Disconnect wire at temperature gauge sender unit and engine
wiring harness from alternator.
