5.2.5 GPSG-1000 Almanac Update
Perform the following steps to Update GPSG-1000 Almanac using a USB memory device * :
STEP PROCEDURE
1. Obtain the current GPS almanac for the week from the United States Coast Guard
Navigation Center at http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=gpsAlmanacs and
save the file as “ current.alm ” or as “ weekXYZ.alm ” with XYZ being the current
almanac week (week617.alm).
2. Copy the almanac file, named “
current.alm
” to the USB memory device (VIAVI
Solutions P/N 67325) under the directory name of Instrument/almanacs/ plus
almanac file name (/Instrument/almanacs/week617.alm).
3. Power up the GPSG-1000.
4. Select
System
, then select
System Update
from the drop down menu on the
GPSG-1000.
5. Insert the USB memory device into USB Host 1 Port or Host Port 2.
6. Wait 5 to 10 seconds for the device to be recognized and then select Copy from
USB
.
7. The Almanac file will be copied to the GPSG-1000.
8. The status message should read ‘Upgrade Done’.
9. Remove the USB memory device.
10. Proceed to
Setup
window, then press
Almanac Source
. Press
File
, then select
the newly loaded almanac file to load.
