4.6.5 PRIU (PRI/T1 Interface Board)
Description
The Primary Rate Interface (PRI) w/T1 board interfaces to North American standards
based digital networks. Standard alarms are provided by on-board LEDs (refer to chart
below).
The board is switch-selectable for T1 or PRI operation. In T1 operation, the standards
EIA/TIA-464-A and TR 41458 24-channel interface supporting DID, TIE Line, and Loop or
Ground Start are implemented. The DID and TIE Line operation support Immediate,
Delayed and Wink start signaling protocols. The interface can be assigned for AMI or BZ8S
line coding and either D4 or Extended Super Frame (ESF) framing.
In PRI operation the ISDN standard 23 Bearer and one (1) Data channel interface is
supported in accordance with the NII standard.
The PRIU board provides a standard PRI or T1 interface circuit. The PRIU, as shown in
Figure 4.6.5-1, can be installed only on the CN2 connector of either an MBUI or MBUID. A
multiple pole Dip-switch determines the type of interface circuit, PRI or T1.
To install the board in the KSU, refer to section 4.3.
