The functionality of the belt tensioner
systems is monitored electronically
together with the airbag systems and
indicated via the control indicator
v
. When
the ignition is switched on, the control
indicator illuminates for
approx. 4 seconds. If it does not illuminate,
or if it does not extinguish after 4 seconds,
or if it illuminates while driving, there is a
fault in the belt tensioner system or the
airbag systems – see page 76. The systems
might not be deployed in the event of an
accident.
In the event of a fault in the belt tensioners,
the LEDs flash in the button for
deactivating the passenger’s airbag
systems, and control indicator

illuminates in the odometer display.
Deployment of the belt tensioners is
indicated by continuous illumination of

.
The system’s integrated self-diagnostics
allows faults to be quickly remedied.
