VRD FITTED
On the front panel of the MINE SPEC 500 there are two indicator lights, The red light when lit indicates OCV
(open circuit voltage) is greater than 24V. The green light when lit indicates OCV (open circuit voltage) is less than
24V. these lights monitor the OCV and weld voltage constantly.
In the CC-MMA / CELLULOSE and GOUGING mode when not welding the green light will be lit indicating that the
voltage is less than 24V. During welding the red light will be lit indicating that the voltage is greater than 24V. If the red
indicator light remains lit in the CC-MMA / CELLULOSE and GOUGING mode this indicates that the VRD is not
working please contact your nearest UNIMIG service agent.
Due to the low OCV and the Australian Standard requirement’s of resistance in the curcuit to be low for VRD to
operate electrode starting is more difficult. In order to minimise this the contact between work return lead and the
material to be welded must have good metal to metal contact.
VRD Voltage Reduction Device lowers the voltage
in CC MMA and CC air arc gouging modes to below
12 volts in less than 300 milliseconds.

• Emergency engine stop button located at eye level to quickly shut MS500 down in case of emergency.

Note: can only be locked in off position.
• RCD protection for auxiliary AC power outlets.
• Auxiliary AC power with two 240 Volt single phase and one 415Volt IP66 rated outlets can also be isolated electrically
by switching off circuit breakers behind bolted panel.
• Auxiliary power outlets can be isolated by lockable cover.
• All wiring looms are encased in conduit with rubber boots fitted to avoid mechanical wear and damage.
• Drip tray supplied that will contain all liquids used in engine.
• IP23 case enclosure.
