7 Unihedron Device Manager
Tools : .dat to Sun-Moon-MW-Clouds .csv
Reads a .dat file of SQM data and creates a comma separated value (.csv) file with these attributes at each SQM time
reading.
Table 7.2: .dat to Sun-Moon-MW-Clouds values
Label
Description
Location
Geographic name of SQM site, taken from ”Location name” in raw data file; if blank
the Location is printed as ”Not-Specified”
Lat
Latitude of SQM, in fractional degrees, taken from Position value in raw data file; if
blank, processing will stop
Long
Longitude of SQM, in fractional degrees, taken from Position value in raw data file;
if blank, processing will stop
UTC Date
Universal date extracted from raw data file “UTC Date & Time”
UTC Time
Universal time extracted from raw data file “UTC Date & Time”
Local Date
Local date extracted from raw data file “Local Date & Time”
Local Time
Local time extracted from raw data file “Local Date & Time”
Celsius
Temperature of SQM, degrees Celsius, extracted from raw data file ”Temperature”
Volts
Voltage of SQM, volts (battery supply), extracted from raw data file ”Voltage”
Msas
SQM reading (Magnitudes per arc second squared)
Status
SQM record type
MoonPhase
Phase of the moon in degrees, 0 degress = Full Moon; + and -180 degrees = New
Moon; waxing Moon from +180 to 0 degrees: waning Moon from 0 to -180 degrees;
values flip from -180 to +180 at Full Moon
MoonElev
Elevation angle in degrees of the moon above or below (negative) the local flat horizon
MoonIllum
Percentage of moon illuminated
SunElev
Elevation angle of the sun above or below (negative) the local flat horizon
MinSince3pm
Number of minutes since 3pm of the previous day; allows tracking of time from
afternoon, through evening, night and morning; positive number
Msas Avg
Average value of SQM reading during the current night, under conditions of sun lower
than 18 degrees below the horizon and moon lower than 10 degrees below the horizon
NightsSince 1118
Number of nights since January 1, 2018; useful to track number of nights since that
day
RightAscensionHr
Right ascension in hours of the zenith at the SQM location; equivalent to Local
Siderial Time at the SQM location; used to calculate the Galactic orientation
Galactic Lat
Angle in degrees between the zenith at the SQM location and the highest point of
the Milky Way Arc; value of zero implies the SQM is pointed directly into the Milky
Way
Galactic Long
Angle in degrees from the Galactic Center (Sagittarius) eastward along the Galactic
equator
J2000days
Days since January 1, 2000; fractional
