6 Wire feeds when the
Gun trigger switch
is depressed but arc
cannot be established.
A
B
C
D
E
F
Poor or no work lead contact.
Open power cable between Feeder
to DC Power Supply.
Wirefeeder signal is not initiating
the power source which could
be caused by a loose 19 pin plug
connection.
A fault or overload condition has
occurred in pins A & B of the 19
pin interconnection lead control
cable and the P.T.C. protection has
activated.
Defective PCB1
Defective DC Power Supply
A

C
D
E
F
Clean work clamp area and ensure good
electrical contact.
Measure continuity and replace if open.
Tighten 19 pin plug connection, repair or
replace the 19 Pin control cable.
Refer to Subsection 4.23 Protection of
Power Source Contactor Output Control.
(P.T.C.).
Measure for voltage on PCB1 P4
connector Pins 1 to 2. Voltage is supplied
from Power supply. If the voltage is
present and does not drop to zero when
the trigger is closed, replace PCB1.
Voltage is supplied from Power supply. If
the voltage is present and does drop to
zero when the trigger is closed, the DC
Power Supply is defective.
7 Wirefeed motor
operates but wire does
not feed.
A
B
C
Pressure on feed rolls not correctly
adjusted.
Incorrect feed rolls used.
Worn feed roll.
A
B
C
Adjust pressure on feed rolls so that it
will be set to a minimum pressure that
will provide satisfactory wire feed without
slippage.
Check that feed roll being used matches
the wire size and type being used.
Replace feed roll.
8 Jerky wire feed
A
B
C
D
Worn or dirty contact tip.
Worn feed roll.
Excessive brake tension from wire
reel hub.
Worn, kinked or dirty conduit liner.
A
B
C
D
Replace contact tip.
Replace feed roll.
Reduce brake tension on spool hub.
Clean or replace conduit liner.
9 No gas flow
A
B
C
D
Gas hose leaking.
Gas passage contains impurities.
Gas regulator/flowmeter turned off.
Empty cylinder
A
B
C
D
Repair or Replace defective gas hoses.
Disconnect gas hose from the rear of
Wirefeeder then raise gas pressure and
blow out impurities.
Turn on Regulator/flowmeter and adjust
to correct pressure.
Replace cylinder.
10 Gas flow continues
after the Gun trigger
switch has been
released.
A
B
Postflow is operating.
Gas valve has jammed open due to
impurities in the gas valve or gas
line.
A
B
C
Adjust postflow time setting. Refer to
Subsection 4.03.
Clean debris from gas valve diaphragm.
Also voltage is always present on coil of
gas valve even when postflow time has
ceased and trigger not enabled.
Replace Gas Valve.
