AFTER THE PUMP CASING HAS BEEN FILLED, REINSTALL AND TIGHTEN THE FILL

PLUG. FAILURE TO OPERATE THE PUMP WITHOUT ALL CONNECTION PIPING

SECURELY INSTALLED COULD CAUSE LIQUID IN THE PUMP TO BE FORCED OUT

UNDER PRESSURE AND MAY RESULT IN INJURY.

When filling your pump, take off the fill cover on the pump casing or pull the

fill plug at the case top. Fill the casing with clean liquid until full. Be sure to

replace the fill cover or plug before the pump is used.

B. START-UP

Follow instructions in the Operation Manual that came with the power source.

1. Rotation

When facing the impeller, the pump’s proper rotation direction is

counterclockwise. Incorrect pump rotation may harm the pump and seriously

impact performance. Be sure to inspect the power source direction of

rotation prior to using other troubleshooting procedures if your pump’s

performance is not within the manufacturer’s specified limits (See Pump

Performance Curve in Section X).

When an electric motor is running the WSP™ Self-primer pump, remember to

remove the V-belts and couplings. If the V-belts and couplings are not

removed, you must disconnect the pump from the motor and only then check

the motor’s rotation. Be sure to watch the direction of the motor shaft or the

cooling fan while the motor is operating.

Use a qualified electrician to swap out any two of the 3-phase wires to alter

the direction of rotation when the rotation on a 3-phase motor is incorrect.

Review the documentation that came with the motor for particular instructions

from the manufacturer when a single-phase motor rotation is incorrect.

C. OPERATION

1. Lines with a Bypass

The valve will automatically open to allow pump priming and automatically

close once priming is finished when a WSP™ ARV is installed. See Section

VIII, INSTALLATION, Part G, WSP™ ARV Theory of Operation.
