C. REMOVING THE ROTATING ASSEMBLY
To maintain the rotating assembly without disconnecting the suction or discharge
piping, go through the rear of the pump. You may also service the rotating assembly
from the front of the pump by taking off the suction inlet, or “goose neck.”
While being sure the suction inlet assembly is supported, take out the mounting
hardware, the suction inlet assembly and the suction inlet gasket.
There are two sets of 16mm taped holes in the front wearplate to facilitate its
removal (top, bottom and at 120° increments). The holes are not completely taped
so they must be used with a puller.
Examine the front wearplate and its gasket, and install new ones if they appear worn
or damaged.
To prevent seal cavity oil from escaping when the impeller is loosened, remove the
seal cavity drain plug, and drain the oil in the seal cavity before loosening the
impeller.
With the rotating assembly still attached to the pump casing, loosen the impeller.
When done, clean, inspect and reinstall the drain plug in the seal cavity.
Remove the inner circle of bolts from the retainer plate and move them to pusher
holes. Evenly tighten the bolts to push the entire rotating assembly toward the
suction. Once the impeller is through the casing a strap of adequate strength (1 ton
