3.10 Async Test

To execute the Async Test, select

from the DIAGNOSTIC TEST menu, press

Enter

and

follow the directions displayed on the screen. The Async Test contains six subtests that test
the computer’s asynchronous communication functions. Move the highlight bar to the subtest
you want to execute and press

Enter

.

Subtests 01 through 04 require the following data format:

8 bits and one parity bit (EVEN)

Data pattern:

20h to 7Eh

The following message will appear at the bottom of the screen when Subtests 01, 03, 04, and
05 are selected:

Select the channel number (1-3)

The serial I/O port address is specified by the XXXXh number. Select the serial port channel
number, and press

Enter

to start the subtest.

(34M741621G01) must be connected to the RS-232-C port. The RS-232-C
wraparound connector wiring diagram is described in Appendix G.
