12.
Maintenance and testing of lathe.
12.1.
Inspection.
The inspection connected with
- safety of operation.
- reliability of operation.
should be ensured by the lathe user in course of lathe life.
The inspections of safety of operation are laid down by law and safety regulations in users’s country.
The inspections of reliability of operation are conditioned on cycles of common and medium repairs, and complet
overhauls.
This cycle is laid down departmentaly on the basis of the user requirements, possibly on the basis of an agreement between
the user and the lathe manufacturer.

Inspections should be carried out in accordance with the set of technical measurements and checks in supplement of this
Manual.
12.2.
Maintenance.
The common and medium repairs of the lathe are usually ensured by the lathe user activity through maintenance workers.
Complet overhaul
The complet overhaul is usually carried out as a deliviery method of repair. Wear effects or lathe damage are removed so
that the initial characteristic and eventually specified and settled accuracy of lathe could be restored.
The lathe may be drawn to the overhaul, which is included in the plan of overhauls according to cycles and systems of
preventantive periodical repairs.
The operating data sheet of lathe including the description of all repairs and last checking record with all defect incidences
must be enclosed with the lathe.
From the economic point of view the price for complet overhaul should not be exceeded the price of new lathe.
On the basis of user requirement the overhauled lathe can be modernized.
After overhauling the accuracy and output of the lathe must be tested.
12.3.
Using safeguards.
The safeguards which keep the operator or exposed person away from the turning area must be in working position in
course of turning.
The arrangement of the connection of their locking device is in accordance with ČSN EN 418 Standard.
