Traction (Neutral) Switch
The traction switch is a normally closed and opens when
traction pedal is depressed in either direction. The
switch is located on the right side of the hydrostatic
transmission.
IMPORTANT: The traction switch has three (3) ter
minals. Make sure the wires are connected to the
“COMMON” and “NO” terminals.
Test the switch by disconnecting the wires from the
switch terminals and connecting a continuity tester
across the two terminals that had wires connected to
them. With the engine turned off, slowly push the trac
tion pedal in a forward and reverse direction while
watching the continuity tester. There should be indica
tions that the traction switch is opening and closing.
Allow the traction pedal to return to neutral. There
should be continuity across the terminals. (See Replac
ing the Traction Switch in the Repairs section of this
chapter for replacement and adjustment procedures.)

Cutting Unit Down Switch
The cutting unit down switch is a normally open (NO)
reed switch located on the left front lift arm that closes
when the lift arm is in the lowered position. As the lift
arm is lowered a magnet in the lift arm causes the reed
switch to close and complete the circuit.
1. Disconnect the switch wire connector and install a
continuity tester or ohm meter between the two leads of
the switch.
2. With the lift arm in the lowered position the tester
should show continuity. With the lift arm in the raised
position, the tester should show no continuity.
NOTE: When the Enable/Disable switch is in the EN-
ABLE position, the controller uses the input from this
switch to turn the cutting units on and off. When raising
the cutting units with the Enable/Disable switch in EN-
ABLE, the cutting units lift part way to a “turn around”
position.
