Replacing gear oil
①
Remove the oil plugs (upper and
lower), and completely drain the
gear oil into a pan.
②
Insert the oil tube nozzle into the
lower oil plug hole, and fill with
gear oil by squeezing the oil tube
until oil flows out of the upper plug
hole.
③
Install the upper oil plug, and then
remove oil tube nozzle and install
the lower oil plug.
Notes
If water in the oil, giving it a milky
colored appearance. Contact your
dealer.
Notes
Use only genuine or recommended
gear oil or, if not available, an API
(American Petroleum Institute) oil
grade of GL5 SAE #80~SAE#90.

Be sure that outboard motor is secured
to transom or service stand, or

Be sure to lock outboard motor if it is
tilted up, or accidental fall of outboard

Do not go under outboard motor tilted
up and locked, or accidental fall of
outboard motor could lead to severe
personal injury.
Do not reuse oil plug gasket. Always
use new gasket and tighten oil plug
properly to prevent entry of water into
lower unit.
