WATER FUEL SEPARATOR (Fig.23)
The machine is equipped with a water fuel separator.
Water which can accumulate with the fuel is
separated and trapped in the glass bowl. When
approximately 1" (25mm) of water has been collected
in the bowl, it should be drained off as follows:
2.
Unscrew the nut X holding the bowl, discard the
contents of the bowl.
3.
Replace the empty bowl and tighten retaining nut.
NOTE: If the water is not removed from the fuel
system, extensive damage can result in the fuel
injection system. Always bleed the fuel system of air
after removing the water from the separator.
FUEL SYSTEM (Fig.24)
To bleed air from system
1.
Fill fuel tank with No. 2 diesel fuel through filler
neck N. For cold weather operation at
temperatures below 20
o
F (- 6.7
o
C), use No.1
diesel fuel (if available) or use a winterized blend
of No.1 and No.2 diesel fuel. These fuels have
less paraffin-like components which turn into
flakes and clog the fuel system. See engine
manual for more details.
2.
Turn on keyswitch to the run position but do not
start engine.
3.
Open air vent O on top of the fuel filter to bleed
all air from the fuel line and injection pump. Re-
tighten vent screw after all air has escaped. Shut
off keyswitch.
Fuel Filters (every 400 hours) (Fig.25)
1.
Inline fuel filter P - Remove filter and discard.
Replace with a new filter.
AIR CLEANER (every 400 hours) (Fig.26)
Replace the air cleaner element according to the
service chart. Service more frequently if operating in
very dry or dusty conditions. Uneven running, lack of
power or black exhaust fumes may indicate a dirty air
cleaner.
1.
Squeeze the sides of the particle collector Q to
release any accumulated particles.
