NSG 5500 Automotive transient immunity generator
3.6.2 Connections
Each ARB 5500 contains not only a DB-9 output for connecting to the source, but also a BNC trigger.
As many sources, such as the Teseq PA 5840 and PA 5740 contain a voltage programmable current limit, this
is also provided.

3.6.1 The Hardware
The NSG 5500 can contain up to eight ARB 5500 modules, but it must be prepared to hold the modules. An
NSG 5500 +ARB already contains one ARB 5500, and some necessary electronics. Once the +ARB Option is
included, up to seven additional ARB 5500 modules may be added to control up to eight sources.
3.6.3 NSG 5500 +ARB Capabilities
Arbitrary Channels
Up to 8 (1 included)
Segments
64,000
Bit Rate
80MS/s (shared)
3.6.4 ARB 5500 Capabilities
Voltage Control
-10 – +10V
Current Control
0 – 10V
Isolation
Galvonic isolation
Trigger
TTL (5V High, 0V Low)
Bandwidth
DC – 500 kHz
Minimum Bit Rate
1)
10MS/s
1) A bit rate of 10MS/s would mean that even generating a sinus at the maximum bandwidth of 500 kHz, you
would have at least 20 samplers per sine wave as the period of 500 kHz is 2 µs.
