Function Tests
Test the Breakaway Brake
1 With the tow vehicle still attached to the trailer,
connect the pull pin cable to the tow vehicle so
that the pull pin will be pulled out before all of
the slack in the safety chains is taken up. Do
not connect the pull pin cable to a safety chain
or to the hitch assembly. This would keep the
breakaway brake system from operating when it
is needed.
2 Remove the pull pin from the switch, release the
parking brake, and test tow the trailer, at less
than 5 mph (8kph).
Result: You should feel the trailer resisting
being towed, but the wheels will not necessarily
be locked. If the brakes do not function, do not
tow the trailer until the brakes are repaired.
3 Immediately replace the pull pin. The
breakaway brake system battery discharges
rapidly when the pull pin is removed.
Setup for All Other Function
Tests
1 Position the machine on a firm, level bridge
deck surface.
2 Set the parking brake.
3 Disconnect the trailer lights, safety chains and
brake cables from the vehicle.
4 Disconnect the trailer from the tow vehicle.
5 Lower the front drive assembly, using the jack
handle, until the machine is level front to back.
Note: All function movements require that the
function switch be engaged first then the black
hydraulics function enable button is pressed.
At the Ground Controls
6 Insert the key and turn to the ON position.
7 Pull out the red Emergency stop button to the
ON position.
8 Press the Green engine start button.
Result: Engine should start. The green system
ready light should be ON and the red e-remote
e-stop light should be OFF. In cold condition
depress the black choke button on the side of
the control box prior to pressing the engine start
button.
9 Push in the red emergency Stop button to the
OFF position and activate any of the controls.
Result: The engine should stop. The green
system ready light should turn OFF, the red
remote e- stop light should turn ON. All ground,
and pendant, control functions should not
operate.
Test the Parking Brake
1 Pull out the red Emergency stop button to the
ON position.
2 Start the engine.
3 With the parking brake engaged, drive the
machine forward and reverse.
Result:The brakes should keep the machine
from driving.
