SERVICE

INSTALLING THE SERVICE BRAKE SEAL KIT

1. Remove the clip securing the cover in the

brake hub and remove the cover from the
brake hub.

2. Remove the rotor disks and stator disks from

the brake hub assembly.

3. Use a slide hammer to remove the piston from

the brake hub assembly.

4. Carefully remove the seal from the cover. Do

Not damage the cover sealing surfaces.

5. Remove all seals from the service brake hub.

6. Use a green scouring pad to clean the piston.

Do Not use an emery cloth or sandpaper since
these abrasive products could damage the
sealing surfaces of the piston.

7. Place the service brake piston in the freezer

for approximately 5-6 hours or the part
temperature drops to 0° C (32° F) or less.

8. Use a green cleaning pad to clean the interior

of the brake hub. Do not use an emery cloth
or sandpaper since these items could damage
the interior sealing surfaces of the brake hub.

9. Clean the brake hub exterior.

10. Place the brake hub in an oven at 38° C

(100° F) for approximately 1 hour or the part
temperature reaches 38° C (100° F).

NOTE: To prevent damaging seals when installing
the piston into the brake hub the piston should
be cooled to contract the part and the brake hub
should be heated to expand the part, allowing
more room to install the piston into the brake hub.

11. Remove the brake hub from the oven/heat

source and check temperature. The brake hub
should be approximately 38° C (100° F).

12. Remove the piston from the freezer. The brake

hub should be approximately 0° C (32° F) or
less.
