6.4 Using WinSpec
After verifying that the detector and IsoPlane are connected to the computer and are both
turned on, Launch WinSpec. WinSpec should automatically identify the detector that is to
be used, and a dialog for selecting the detector for the experiment should be displayed. In
addition, WinSpec must be instructed/configured to use IsoPlane.
6.4.1 Select the Detector
NOTE:
When using an LN-cooled detector, the Dewar should be filled
while the detector is ON.
Perform the following procedure to select the desired detector:
1.
If this is the first time you have installed WinSpec/32 and a supported detector, the
Camera Detection Wizard
will run automatically. Otherwise, if you installing a new
detector type, click the
Launch Camera Detection Wizard…
button on the
Controller/
CCD
tab to launch the wizard.

On the
Welcome
dialog, leave the checkbox unselected and click

Follow the instructions on the dialogs to complete the initial hardware setup. The
wizard enters default parameters on the
Hardware Setup
dialog tabs and provides an
opportunity to acquire a test image to verify that the system is working properly.

When using an LN-cooled detector, fill the Dewar while the detector is powered on.
