Grating Turrets

5.
Place the removed grating turret assembly into the original protective container in
which it was shipped
6.
If a shutter assembly is not being installed or removed, or if a different turret is not
being installed, replace the turret compartment cover.
7.
Replace the four (4) turret compartment cover screws and use a 9/64” hex wrench to
tighten them.

CAUTION!
!
The information included in this section is applicable
ONLY
if
more than one turret has been ordered for use with an IsoPlane. If
the IsoPlane is equipped with only one turret, the information
within this section should never be required.
The IsoPlane is supplied with one on-axis mounted triple grating turret assembly, but up to
three (3) additional grating turrets may be ordered for use with the spectrograph. If multiple
turrets are available, the built-in sensing mechanism will automatically identify which
grating turret has been installed. You may, however, want to label the turrets (for example,
with the spectral range used.)
CAUTION!
!
When handling a turret, be aware of, and adhere to, the following
guidelines:
• The optical surfaces in the spectrograph are extremely
delicate and can be permanently damaged by contact with
solid objects as well as with most liquids and aerosols.
•
DO NOT TOUCH
optical surfaces with anything. Wear thin
protective powderless gloves to minimize damage from
body oils if you accidentally touch any optical surface,
especially the grating.
• Avoid talking or sneezing near optical surfaces. Do not
breathe directly on them.
Perform the following procedure to interchange grating turrets:
CAUTION!
!
Observe proper optical handling procedures.
1.
Locate the storage container with the new grating turret to be installed.
2.
Scan the instrument to Grating #1 and a Center Wavelength of 0 nm.
3.
Use a 9/64” hex wrench to remove the four (4) turret compartment cover screws and
remove the cover. Become familiar with the grating turret and its components.
4.
Loosen the center torque screw. See
.
