Network Options menu. Subnet Mask is used to determine
what subnet an IP address belongs to. An IP address has two components, the network
address and the host address. Subnetting enables the network administrator to further
divide the host part of the address into two or more subnets. In this case, a part of the
host address is reserved to identify the particular subnet.

Network Options menu. A gateway is a network point that
acts as an entrance to another network. On the Internet, a node or stopping point can be
either a gateway node or a host (end-point) node. Both the computers of Internet users
and the computers that serve pages to users are host nodes. The computers that control
traffic within your company's network or at your local Internet service provider (ISP) are
gateway nodes.

Network Options menu. A hostname is a label that is
assigned to a device connected to a computer network and that is used to identify the
device in various forms of electronic communication such as the World Wide Web, e-mail
or Usenet. Hostnames may be simple names consisting of a single word or phrase, or they
may include the name of a Domain Name System (DNS) domain at the end, that is
separated from the host specific label by a full stop (dot). In the latter form, a hostname
is also called a domain name.

a hierarchical naming system for computers, services, or any resource connected to the
Internet or a private network. It associates various information with domain names
assigned to each of the participants. Most importantly, it translates domain names
meaningful to humans into the numerical (binary) identifiers associated with networking
equipment for the purpose of locating and addressing these devices worldwide.

(MAC address) is a unique identifier assigned to most network adapters or network
interface cards (NICs) by the manufacturer for identification and is used in the Media
Access Control protocol sub-layer.
