6-8 Removing and Installing the Backplane
The F414IS backplane is located under the hard drives on the front left side of each
node as shown in Figure 6-5. Although backplane failure rarely occurs, in the event
of a backplane failure, follow the instructions below.
Removing the Backplane
Removing the Backplane from the Node
1. Power down the node with the operating system and remove the cord from
the rear of the power supply as described in Section 6-3. Remove the node
from the chassis as described in Section 6-4. Remove the node cover as
described in Section 6-5.
2. Remove the screws securing the 3.5" hard drive trays and release the trays
as described on page 6-6.
3. Remove the screws securing the protection cover and set them aside for later
use.
4. Lift the protection cover with the attached backplane, up and out of the node.
