be fitted and installed exclusively by:
• An authorized Sunrise Medical supplier.
• A qualified and competent healthcare professional
who has undergone appropriate certified training by
either Sunrise Medical or their approved supplier.
THE JAY POSITIONING SUPPORTS INTENDED USE:
The Jay Positioning Supports are intended to provide
additional support for a wide variety of wheelchair users.
WARNING!
Any application other than positioning a person in a
wheelchair where its failure could result in injury is a
misuse of these products and it is not safe.
Maximum User Weight.
Because the harnesses can be installed onto a wide
range of wheelchairs, the harness maximum user weight
is equal to the maximum user weight of the wheelchair to
which it is fitted.
Intended Lifetime.
The intended lifetime of these products is 2 years.
WARNING!
Positioning belts and trunk supports should only be used
to help support the user’s posture.
DANGER!
• Risk of chest compression or suffocation!
• Do not use any trunk support or chest harness
without stabilizing the pelvis.
• Ensure that the user cannot slide down out of the
seating system.
NOTE:
The use of a JAY contoured cushion may help
prevent the user from sliding in the seat.

• Any belt, harness or support strap must not interfere
with breathing.
• Any belt, harness or support strap may alter the
person’s seating position.
• It is crucial that users at risk of skin breakdown are
regularly checked for skin integrity.
• Employ an appropriate pressure relief regime.
• A risk assessment is recommended to determine
If the user can perform pressure relief activities
independently, if not a caregiver/clinician must carry out
this task.

FOR TRANSPORTATION
• Jay Positioning belts, harnesses and shoulder straps
were designed for positioning, not to be used as
transportation safety belt!
• JAY POSITIONING BELTS, HARNESSES, AND
SHOULDER STRAPS may be used while in transit, but
are not crash tested or approved to provide protection
during a crash.
• When traveling in a motor vehicle, only use these
positioning supports in combination with restraints that
have been transit tested in accordance with SAE J2249
and/or ANSI/RESNA WC/20.
