4.1.5 IPMI Test
The IPMI test that is run from the active (1A) DMC checks for IPMI connectivity by
sending IPMI commands to all slots that are occupied, then waits for their response.
The IPMI command from the active DMC is sent to the 18 node cards, both
switching fabric boards and the standby (1B) DMC. The test performs up to four
retries whenever it fails to receive a response, in accordance with the PICMG IPMI
(Intelligent Platform Management Interface) Specification. The IPMI test that is run
from the standby DMC just tests the IPMI connectivity between the active DMC and
the standby DMC.
4.1.6 Real Time Clock (RTC) Test
The RTC test checks the real time clock device and reports a Pass or Fail status. It
then displays the time of the day that was obtained from the RTC.
4.1.7 Fan Status Test
The Fan Status test checks the status of the three fan trays, and the three fans within
each fan tray, and reports if the fans are present and if the fans are operating
properly.
4.1.8 Fan Tachometer Test
The Fan Tachometer test checks the tachometer of the three fan trays, and the three
fans within each fan tray. It reports their rotations per minute (RPM) value and tells
if they are operating at normal speed or at warning or critical speed.
4.1.9 FRU Presence Test
The FRU Presence test checks the status of all FRU devices available in a Netra CT
820 server. There are two midplane FRU devices, two DMC FRU devices, three fan
FRU devices, two switching fabric board FRU devices and 18 node card FRU
devices. The test reports if the FRU is present or not, if it is not responding, or if
there was an execution error. The test will loop up to four retries when there is an
execution failure while requesting the FRU packet, in accordance with the PICMG
IPMI Specification.
