Troubleshooting

2. 

Remove the compressor’s left, right, and top covers exposing terminal blocks 12 through 18. 

 

3. 

For checking the fan motor, remove wires 73, 74 and 75 from terminal blocks 14, 15 and 16 
respectively.   

 

4. 

With an ohmmeter, check the resistance between wires 73 and 74.  Resistance should be 
between 122 and 130 ohms.  Check the resistance between wires 74 and 75.  Resistance 
should be between 63 and 71 ohms.  If the resistances are outside their allowed ranges, 
consult a SCAI Service Center.  If there is no continuity, a winding is open.  Consult a SCAI 
Service Center.  

 

5. 

With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between wire 74 and compressor bare sheet metal.  
If there is continuity, the fan motor is grounded.  Consult a SCAI Service Center. 

 

6. 

If the fan motor passes these electrical checks, reconnect wires 73 and 75 to terminal blocks 
14 and 16 respectively. 

 

7. 

For checking the circulator motor, remove wires 68 and 77 from terminal blocks 17 and 18 
respectively.   

 

8. 

With an ohmmeter, check the resistance between wire 68 and 77.  Resistance should be 
between 13.2 and 14.2 ohms.  If the resistance is outside the allowed range, consult a SCAI 
Service Center.  If there is no continuity, the winding is open.  Consult a SCAI Service 
Center.  

 

9. 

With an ohmmeter, check for continuity between wire 68 and compressor bare sheet metal, 
and between wire 77 and compressor bare sheet metal.  If there is continuity, the circulator 
motor is grounded.  Consult a SCAI Service Center. 

 

10. 

If the circulator motor passes these electrical checks, reconnect wires 68 and 77 to terminal 
blocks 17 and 18 respectively 

 

11. 

Replace compressor covers.
