Cleaning the cooktop
To ensure food safety and keep the cooktop in good working order, we
recommend you clean it regularly after each use.
CAUTION!
• Before cleaning the cooktop, it is recommended that you unplug the
appliance from the mains electricity supply if the power plug is accessible.
• Make sure that all burner control knobs are switched off and the cooktop
surface is cool enough to touch before cleaning.
• Do not use abrasive or harsh cleaning agents (such as scouring powders,
abrasive stones, wire brushes and so on) or sharp objects that may scratch
the glass cooktop surface.
Care and cleaning
Glass cooktop surface
Although some deposits are easier to clean off whilst the hob surface is
still warm, make sure that the hob surface, trivets and burners have cooled
sufficiently before you attempt to touch them.
• Daily cleaning:
Remove fingerprints, marks, stains left by food spill-overs
from the glass surface using a
soft cloth or sponge, dampened in warm, soapy
water and well wrung out. Then dry the cooktop with a clean, dry cloth.
• Thorough cleaning:
If required, apply a glass cooktop cleaner while the
glass is still warm, but not hot. Rinse and wipe dry with a clean cloth. This is
important, as cleaning residue left on the cooktop may stain or damage the
glass surface.
• Removal of tough boil-over spills:
Remove such spills as soon as the
surface is cool enough to touch. Use a fish slice, palette knife or razor blade
scraper suitable for glass cooktops. Hold the blade or utensil at a 30° angle
and scrape off the spill, then rinse and wipe dry.
CAUTION: CUT HAZARD!
When the safety cover is retracted, a palette knife
or ceramic cooktop scraper is very sharp. Use with extreme care, retract
the blade after use and always store the scraper safely and out of reach of
children. Failure to use caution could result in injury or cuts.
• Do not use
steel wool, scouring pads and harsh/abrasive cleaning agents (such
as scouring powders, abrasive stones, pumice stones, wire brushes and so
on) or sharp objects that may scratch the cooktop surface, causing irreversible
damage. Take care and check suitability of your cleaning agents before use.
