Luminex Captioner/Student User Guide Chapter 4 Writing on the Captioner/Student Edition
Keyboard at rest with the deepest depth of stroke setting.
The line of white bars at the top of the screen represents the bottom of the keyboard. The vertical
position of the line varies depending on the depth of stroke setting. For example, a deeper depth of
stroke places the line closer to the top of the screen. A shorter depth of stroke places the line
closer to the bottom of the screen. Each individual bar indicates the point the key must reach or
move slightly past in order to register as a stroke. The number below each key is the current
setting. Zero is the factory default.

Press
and release the steno key you want to adjust. When you press a key you will notice a blue
bar expanding up and that blue bar must go past the white line before you release the key. The
gray vertical bar highlights the key selected for adjustment. For example, let's say you want to
adjust the sensitivity of the letter -L. You press the letter -L on your steno keyboard until the blue
line extends beyond the white line and then you release the key. You see the gray bar as shone
below.
