Maintenance Schedule
For optimum performance from this machine,
this maintenance schedule must be strictly
followed
Ongoing
To minimize your risk of injury and maintain
proper machine operation, shut down the
machine immediately if you ever observe any
of the items below, and fix the problem before
continuing operations:
• Check/correct loose mounting bolts
• Check/correct damaged spindle shaft
• Check/replace damaged buffing wheels
• Check/correct worn or damaged wires
• Correct any other unsafe condition
Weekly
• Inspect for worn/damaged cord
• Inspect for worn ON/OFF switch or variable-
speed dial
Monthly
• Clean/vacuum dust buildup off motor
Always disconnect
machine from power before
performing maintenance or
serious personal injury may
result.

Cleaning

Cleaning the Model SB1493 is relatively easy
Vacuum excess debris and wipe off the remaining
dust with a dry cloth Wipe down spindle with a
non-staining lubricant after cleaning
To clean buffing wheels, use a buffing wheel rake
to remove dried compound Guide the rake across
the spinning buffing wheel using light pressure,
as shown in Figure 19
Lubrication
The bearings inside the Model SB1493 are sealed
and permanently lubricated Simply leave them
alone unless they need replacing
