5-4-3. CCU External Video Signal
Adjustment
1. Preparation (NTSC)

Set the NTSC/PAL selector switch to PAL in step 2 below
when performing the adjustment for a PAL system. The
procedure in steps 3 and later is the same in NTSC and
PAL. For the PAL adjustment, refer to “5. VBS video
signal level adjustment (PAL)” or later.
1.
Connect CCU and CHU using a camera (Gigabit)
cable.
2.
Set the NTSC/PAL selector switch on the rear panel to
NTSC.
3.
Connect a waveform/vector monitor. (Refer to Section
5-3-1.1.)
4.
Connect a tool (

1) to the Mini Jack (FS1 pin) on the
rear panel and measure the waveform using a
frequency counter.

Creating the tool
Cut the red (R channel) based on the stereo mini-plug-
to-pin plug X2 specifications of a commercial-
available connection cord (type No.: RK-G129 (Sony))
and input a signal to the frequency counter.
5.
Set the power switch on the rear pane of CCU to ON
and press the I/O power switch on the control panel
while pressing and holding the “REC” button.
After a beep sound stops, press the I/O power switch
on the control panel again and display a camera image
(only once).
6.
Enter the test mode. (Refer to Section 5-2.)
An adjustment menu is then displayed.
7.
Press the “MENU” button, set a color-bar signal to ON
by System SETUP in a main menu, and confirm that
color bars are displayed on the monitor.
8.
Enter an LCD & VBS1 SETTING menu from the
adjustment menu in the test mode and select ADJ.

2. VBS video signal level adjustment (NTSC)
1.
Connect a waveform/vector scope.
2.
Select TYPE: EVR1 of ADJ EVR SETTING to satisfy
specifications, change the data value of CH9, and
adjust so that the video level is the maximum.
Specification: The video level is set so that it is the
maximum.
3.
Select No. 26 of ADJ VBS SETTING to satisfy
specifications, change the data value, and adjust so that
the video level is the maximum.
Specification: Y level 100

3. Video 4FSC frequency adjustment (NTSC)
1.
Connect a tool to the mini-jack (FS1 pin) on the rear
panel.
2.
Connect a frequency counter.
3.
Observe and adjust the frequency counter so that
specifications are satisfied.
4.
Proceed in the order of EVR & DSP SETTING, EVR
SETTING, and TYPE: EVER1 in the test mode and
select CH4. Then, change the data value and adjust so
that specifications are satisfied.
Specification: 7.15909 MHz

4. Video chroma amount adjustment (NTSC)
1.
Connect a waveform/vector monitor. (Refer to Section
5-3-1.1.)
2.
Observe the vector monitor and adjust so that each
luminescent spot is located within

Select No. 2E in the order of LCD & VBS1 SETTING
and ADJ VBS1 SETTING in the test mode and change
the data value.
4.
Press the I/O power switch and terminate the NTSC
adjustment.
PAL adjustment
1.
Set the NTSC/PAL selector switch on the rear panel to
PAL.
2.
Perform Preparation in 5-4-2.1 and open the
adjustment menu in the test mode.
5. VBS video signal level adjustment (PAL)
1.
Connect a waveform/vector monitor. (Refer to Section
5-3-1.1.)
2.
Select No. 26 of ADJ VBS1 SETTING to satisfy
specifications, change the data value, and adjust so that
the video level satisfies the specifications.
Specification: Y level 700
