For Windows XP Home/XP Professional
When the camera is connected to the computer, New
Hardware Wizard appears. Select Install software
automatically., then continue following the
instructions of the wizard.
If the warning “Digital Signature” is displayed, select
Continue Anyway.
If the setup CD-ROM insertion is requested, insert it
into the CD-ROM drive.
7. Confirm that Sony DXC-S500 is found in the device
list in the computer.

When the setup program is finished, Sony DXC-S500
is automatically added as the imaging device in the
computer.
You can check the recognized device by opening
System in the Control Panel and selecting Device
Manager.
Installing the Software on Mac OS
Start the Mac OS on your computer, and perform the
following procedure.

Never connect the camera to the computer before
starting the installation. Connection should be made
during installation when instructed. (Step 5)

Quit all applications before starting the installation.

If the required system configuration is not met, the setup
will be canceled.
1. Insert the supplied SONY DXC-S500 TWAIN
DRIVER SETUP CD-ROM into the computer’s CD-
ROM drive.
2. Start SETUP in the CD-ROM.
3. Click Agree of the “Software License Agreement”
displayed.
4. Restart Mac OS following the instructions of the setup
program.
5. When Mac OS has restarted, turn on the power of the
camera and connect the camera to the computer using
a IEEE1394 cable. (Refer to Section 1-2-3.)
6. Confirm that the TWAIN driver software has been set
up correctly.

Start the TWAIN driver software from the TWAIN 32
compliant application, following “Starting/Quitting the
TWAIN Driver Software” in the User’s Guide.
If the TWAIN Driver Software window appears, the
setup has been correctly done.
1-9. TWAIN Driver Software Installation
Procedures
You can transfer the image data in the camera to the
personal computer (referred to as PC hereafter) by
installing the TWAIN driver software on the PC.

Before installing the TWAIN driver software “SONY
DXC-S500 TWAIN DRIVER SETUP CD-ROM” on the
PC, be sure to read “Getting Started” in the User’s Guide
for TWAIN Driver Software.
Installing the Software on Windows
Start the Windows OS on your computer, and perform the
following procedures.

6. Continue the setup required for your Windows OS.
For Windows 98SE/Me
When the camera is connected to the computer, the
device is automatically recognized. Proceed to Step 7.
For Windows 2000 Professional
When the camera is connected to the computer, the
warning “Digital Signature” is displayed. Select Yes
for the dialog “Do you want to continue the
installation?”. If the setup CD-ROM insertion is
requested, insert it into the CD-ROM drive.
