Section 3
Updating the CPU Program
Procedure
1. Set the power switch on the rear panel to ON.
The power indicator (D201 on the PSW-77 board)
lights in amber.
2. Press the I/O power switch on the control panel while
pressing and holding the “ENTER” button on the
control panel.
The power indicator (D201 on the PSW-77 board)
lights in green.

Press the “ENTER” button continuously until
“<<CAMERA CONTROL UNIT>> ADJUSTING
MODE” is displayed on the LCD screen.
3. Press the “MENU” button once when “<<CAMERA
CONTROL UNIT>> ADJUSTING MODE” is
displayed on the LCD screen.
4. Move the cursor using an “arrow” (
←
,
↑
,
→
,
↓
) button
and enter the password (60062001).

Notice that the password used for the updating of CPU
differs from the password entered in the adjustment mode.
5. Press the “ENTER” button.
If “PASSWORD OK” is displayed, the unit is put into
the adjustment mode state.
6. Press the “MENU” button two times.
“ADJUST USER MAIN MENU” is displayed.
7. Press the “ENTER” button once when “
→
FIRMWARE UPDATE” is displayed.
ARMCUP and H8CPU are then displayed. Select
CPU to be updated using an “arrow” (
↓
or
↑
) button.
8. Press the “ENTER” button.
After “UPDATE OK?” is displayed on the screen,
press the “ENTER” button.
The latest program in a PC card is automatically
loaded to the unit.

VIDEO OUT is 100% black while a program is being
updated.
9. Confirm that the beep sounds intermittently. Updating
is completed.
10. Set the power switch on the rear panel to ON.

Execute steps 1 to 10 above again when updating the
program of the other CPU (not selected in step 2).

If updating fails, replace the SY-301 or FM-84 board.
For the adjustment after board replacement, refer to
“Section 2 Adjustment during Board Replacement” and
“Section 5 Electrical Alignment”.
3-1. Confirmation of CPU Program
Version
This section describes how to update the programs of two
microcomputers ARMCPU (SY-301 board) and H8CPU
(FM-84 board).
Confirm the CPU version in the procedure below before
updating CPU.

In this procedure, the “power switch on the rear panel” and
“I/O power switch on the control panel (referred to as an I/
O power switch hereinafter)” are classified for description
so as to distinguish two types of power switches. Other
switches and buttons are all located on the control panel of
CCU.
Procedure
1. Set the power switch on the rear panel to ON.
The power indicator lights in amber.
2. Press the I/O power switch.
The power indicator lights in green.
3. The version is displayed in the initial blue background
of the LCD screen.
Example)
When A1.01-H1.03 is displayed;
A1.01 (ARMCPU):
CPU Ver.1.01 is displayed.
H1.03 (H8CPU): CU Ver.1.03 is displayed.
4. Confirm the version and update CPU.
3-2. Updating
The way to update two microcomputers ARMCPU and
H8CPU is described below.

How to update microcomputers ARMCPU and H8CPU is
the same.
Preparation
1. Copy the program below the memory stick.

For ARMCPU: “Prgarm.rom”
.
For H8CPU: “Prgh8.rom”
n
Copy only one file to the current directory for use
when copying a program.
2. Insert a memory stick to the PC card slot of this unit
via a PC card adaptor.

Use a memory stick with capacity of 8 to 64 MB.
