7.6 If the motor run
Once the engine runs, briefly pull the throttle
back to release the half throttle detent. Re-
lease the throttle lever again to allow the
engine to run at idle speed. Now you can com-
mence working.
7.7 Turning off the motor
1. Release the throttle and push the stop
switch to ”STOP”.
Due to the centrifugal clutch, the cutters will
run on for a short time, even if you release the
throttle. Ensure the cutter has fully stopped
before storing the machine.
8. Using the motor scythe
8.1 Adjusting cutting line
1. Subject to the fitted cutter, only use the
motor scythe to mow grass, weeds, rough
growth, shrubs, undergrowth, brush, etc.
Never use the motor scythe for any other pur-
poses. Always fit a contact protection shield,
which is suitable for the equipment and the
cutter. Cutter heads with plastic lines are suit-
able for a soft cut, e.g. to cleanly cut around
trees and posts. Approach the growth with the
machine set to idle and then use full throttle.
Never raise the engine speed without load.
FIG. 21
4. Immediately switch off the engine when
you notice irregularities, e.g. if the cutter or
contact protection shield becomes blocked.
Brake the cutter by pushing it onto the
ground, until it has completely stopped. Pull
the spark plug cap, and remove grass, debris,
etc. from the cutter support. Check the entire
machine to ensure its operational condition.
5. When using the line head (model 105, 106L
and 106R; 106B [option]), only work with an
approved line length. If the contact protection
shield is properly fitted, cutting lines will al-
ways be trimmed to the permissible length
(trimming blade integrated into the contact
protection shield). Lines left too long can
cause injury and will overload the engine,
which may cause damage.
6. When refitting units previously equipped
with metal tools to line heads (model 106), the
standard contact protection shield must there-
fore be supplemented with appropriate sup-
plementary components (spacer and line trim-
ming blade).
2. Dip the cutter 2/3 into the growth and use
the equipment like a scythe by stepping for-
ward in small steps and cutting from side to
side.
3. Use the motor scythe at full throttle to ob-
tain the best results. Never operate in the
slipping range of the clutch. Consequential
losses through abuse of the equipment are
excluded from the guarantee.
1. When using a semi-automatic line head:
2. Whilst the motor scythe is running without
load, but with rotating line head, lightly push
the line head several times onto ground with
growth cover. The cutting line will be dis-
pensed in stages. With each action, approx. 30
mm line will be dispensed. Any excess length
will be corrected by the line trimming blade.
3. When the cutting line is fully spent, you can
replace it with line available under part no.
6900997 (accessory).
