3. Remove belt guard, refer to
DRIVE
BELT GUARD REMOVAL

4. Keep the set screws from turning
using a 3 mm Allen key and loosen
the three lock nuts using a 10 mm
open wrench.

LOOSEN THE LOCK NUTS
1. 3 mm Allen key
2. 10 mm open wrench
5. Turn one set screw 1/4 turn at a time
then rotate the driven pulley to prop-
erly set the belt between the pulley
sheaves.
Belt without External Cogs
Repeat step 5 until the external sur-
face of drive belt exceeds driven pulley
edge by 2 mm (.079 in).

Repeat step 5 until the bottom of
grooves on the external side of drive
belt are flush with the driven pulley
edges.

Turning the set screws clock-
wise lowers the belt in the pulley. Turn-
ing the set screws counterclockwise
raises the belt in the pulley.
6. Turn the other set screws clockwise
so that they just contact the bottom.
Do not screw any further

NOTE:
This setting is correct as a pre-
liminary adjustment for most models
and belt types. In some cases, when
starting the engine, the vehicle could
creep, indicating that the belt is too
tight.
