1050W Hammer Drill

129901

•  To select gears, rotate the Gear Selection Switch (3). Align the mark on

the drill casing with the relevant marking on the switch (I for low gear,
2 for high gear)

•  DO NOT attempt to change the gear selection when the drill is running
•  DO NOT attempt to run the drill with the selection switch in a mid-

position

Note:

If the Gear Selection Switch is difficult to move when new, disconnect

the drill from the mains supply and fully depress the Trigger Switch then
push down on the Gear Selection Switch as you turn it to the required gear.

Depth Stop

1. Fit a drill bit into the Chuck (1)
2. Insert the Depth Stop Rod (11) into the Side Handle (10)
3. Choose the depth required and set the Depth Stop Rod at this position so

the drill bit can drill only to the chosen depth

4. Tighten the Depth Stop Knob (2) to lock the rod at the required position

Operation

 WARNING:

ALWAYS wear eye protection, adequate respiratory and

hearing protection, as well as suitable gloves, when working with this tool.

Note:

The drill features fan cooling of the motor. Ensure the two Fan Cooling

Slots (9) are kept clean at all times and there is no possibility of any debris
entering either slot and damaging the fan mechanism. If the tool becomes
very hot, allow to cool and then run the drill with no load in high gear for
2-3 minutes to cool the motor.

Switching on and off

 WARNING:

To start the drill, squeeze the Trigger Switch (7)

•  The speed of the drill can be adjusted by varying the pressure on the

Trigger Switch to the maximum set by the Speed Control Dial (8)

•  To stop the drill, release the Trigger Switch

Using the Lock On Button

•  The drill is equipped with a Lock On Button (6). This allows the Trigger

Switch (7) to be locked into the ‘On’ position for tasks that require
extended continuous running

•  To use the Lock On function, fully depress the Trigger Switch and then

press in the Lock On Button

•  While in the locked position, the speed may be varied using the Speed

Control Dial (8). To unlock, fully depress and then release the Trigger
Switch

Drilling concrete

•  Using hammer drill mode, apply pressure to the rear of the drill, in line

with the drill bit

•  For efficient drilling, it is advisable to use TCT (tungsten carbide tipped)

drill bits. Ensure that the drill bit size is within the maximum capacity of
the drill (see Specification)

•  Do not apply too much pressure if debris blocks the drill hole. Run the

drill slowly, and remove the bit from the hole. Repeat until hole is cleared

Drilling wood

•  Use rotary drill mode only
•  Ensure that drill bits are suitable for wood, and are within the maximum

capacity of this drill (see Specification)

Drilling metal

•  To ensure accuracy, mark the intended hole position using a hammer

and centre punch

•  Use rotary drill mode only
•  Ensure that drill bits are suitable for the grade of metal being drilled and

are within the maximum capacity of the drill (see Specification)

•  To ensure efficient cutting, and prolong drill bit life, use a suitable

lubricant/cutting fluid

 WARNING:

Applying excess pressure does not result in faster or more

efficient drilling. If the pressure applied to the drill has a noticeable effect
on the speed of the drill then reduce the pressure. Overloading the drill will
reduce its service life. As the drill bit penetrates the material being drilled,
it may ‘catch’ or 'snag'. This can cause the machine to 'kick' suddenly. To
prevent injury, always hold the drill securely, use the side handle, and use
sharp drill bits.
Always ensure that material is secure. If appropriate, use a vice or clamp to
hold the work. Always keep two hands on the drill.

Accessories

•  A range of accessories and consumables, including drill bits and drill

bit sets, is available from your Silverline stockist. Spare parts can be
obtained from toolsparesonline.com

Maintenance

 WARNING:

ALWAYS disconnect from the power supply before carrying

out any inspection, maintenance or cleaning.

General inspection

•  Regularly check that all the fixing screws are tight
•  Inspect the supply cord of the tool, prior to each use, for damage or wear.

Repairs should be carried out by an authorised Silverline service centre.
This advice also applies to extension cords used with this tool

Cleaning

•  Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts

to wear quickly, and shorten the machine’s service life. Clean the body of
your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth. If available, use clean, dry,
compressed air to blow through the ventilation holes

•  Clean the tool casing with a soft damp cloth using a mild detergent. DO

NOT use alcohol, petrol or strong cleaning agents

•  Never use caustic agents to clean plastic parts

Lubrication

•  Slightly lubricate all moving parts at regular intervals with a suitable

spray lubricant

Brushes

•  Over time the carbon brushes inside the motor may become worn
•  Excessively worn brushes may cause loss of power, intermittent failure,

or visible sparking

•  If you suspect that the brushes may be worn, have them replaced at an

authorised Silverline service centre

Storage

•  Store this tool carefully, inside the supplied case, in a secure, dry place

out of the reach of children

Disposal

Always adhere to national regulations when disposing of power tools that
are no longer functional and are not viable for repair.
•  DO NOT dispose of power tools, or other waste electrical and electronic

equipment (WEEE), with household waste

•  Contact your local waste disposal authority for information on the correct

way to dispose of power tools
