Password
A strong password must have at least
7 characters
that are a combination of uppercase
and lowercase letters, numerals, and punctuation.
1. Tap the
Start
menu
>
Settings
>
the
Personal
tab
>
Password
.
2. To enable this function, select how long your mobile device must be turned off before the
password is required for using the device by tapping
Prompt if device unused for
.
3. Select the type of password you would like to use:
Simple 4 digit
or
Strong
alphanumeric
.
4. Enter the password and, if necessary, confirm the password.

If your device is configured to connect to a network, use a strong password to help protect
network security.
n
If you forget your password, you must clear the memory before you can access your device.
This will erase all files and data you have created and programs you have installed. For
more information about clearing memory, please see Appendix A.

If you've used
ActiveSync
to create a backup file, all of your program data can be restored.
For more information on creating a backup file, also see Appendix A.
Sounds and Notifications
Turning off sounds and the notification light helps conserve battery power. To change the
ring type and volume:
1. Tap the
Start
menu
>
Settings
>
the
Personal
tab
>
Sounds & Notifications
.
2. On the
Sounds
tab, you can select the desired actions.
3.
On the
Notifications
tab, you can customize how you are notified about different events.
Select the event name and then select the type of reminder. You can select a special sound,
a message, or a flashing light.

Changing the background:
1. Tap the
Start
menu

Settings
>
the
Personal
tab

Today

2. On the
Appearance
tab, select the desired theme for the background. To use your own
background, select
Use this picture as the background
then tap
Browse
to locate the
desired file.
3. Choose a folder and tap the file you want, then tap
OK
.
