
5. Select the check boxes for the devices whose device descriptions are to be integrated. On
the devices that are not yet integrated or have been integrated with an older version, the
check box is automatically selected.
The "Fieldbus Foundation" directory contains all FF devices (device library of the Fieldbus
Foundation and other individual devices).
You can work with a split device list window.
Note
Integrating device descriptions
Many FF devices require information that is stored in other device descriptions.
Recommendation:
Integrate all device descriptions that provided with the SIMATIC PDM "Device Library" DVD.
6. Select the Catalog > Integration... menu command.
The device descriptions are transferred to the PC.

During the device description integration
Do not open any SIMATIC programs until the device description integration has completed.

Assign symbolic names to the signals of the FF devices. Symbolic names facilitate the
