Diagnostic Buffer Command (CPU Menu)
Select the
CPU > Diagnostic Buffer
menu command to display the SIMATIC
Diagnostic Buffer.
The diagnostic buffer allows you to view system diagnostic information without
having to access STEP 7. It consists of an upper panel that displays an event list
and a lower panel that displays specific event details.
The diagnostic buffer is implemented as a ring buffer that contains single event
entries. The events are displayed in descending order by time, with the most recent
event at the top. If the ring buffer is full, a new event overwrites the oldest entry in
the buffer.
The Diagnostic Buffer displays the following information:
Event List
(upper panel): A list of all the events in the diagnostic buffer. The
following information is shown for each diagnostic event:

The number of the entry
•
The date and time of the event
•
A brief description of the event
Event ID
(between the upper and the lower panels): Displays the ID number of a
selected event.

Event Details
(lower panel): Displays the event details in either text or
hexadecimal format.

appear in the lower panel:
