Speed limit curve
The speed limit curve is the characteristic curve which defines the maximum permissible
door speed V

as a function of the total door panel weight.
According to EN 81, the maximum kinetic energy of the door in the closing direction must not
exceed 10 joules. W

= 1/2 m ∙ v² = 10 J.
Example from the following speed limit curve:
Total door panel weight m = 120 kg => Vmax = 0.4 m/s.
