Symbols and Abbreviations Used
Refers to keys of the display in the dimensional drawing (Section 6.1 Dimensional Drawing).
Notes explain the advantages of specific settings and help you to use the DME4000 optimally.
Warnings: Read and follow them carefully!
Warnings are intended to protect you from dangers and help you to prevent damage to the sensor.

Type Plate
The type plate shows the equipment type, the serial number of the sensor and the part number.
1.2
Use in Accordance with Regulations
The DME4000 is an opto-electronic sensor, which is used for detecting distances to reflective tape that
is moved linearly. It may not be used in areas subject to the danger of explosions.

Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions before operation startup.
Connection, mounting and setting only by skilled technicians.
Protect the DME4000 from humidity and soiling at operation startup.
The DME4000 is not a safety module according to EU machine regulations.
Observe the national safety and accident-prevention regulations.
Only the manufacturer may make repairs. Interfering with and changes to the equipment are not
permitted.
Only carry out cabling work and open and close electric connections when power is switched off.
