8.2.4
DeviceNet
DeviceNet is a field bus system and based on the CAN (Controller Area Network) specification.
The connection is made via hybrid cables to the voltage supply and data transmission (to RS 485).
There are two standardised cable types:
Trunk cable
Drop cable with smaller cable cross-sections
The trunk cable is terminated with resistors on both sides, the drop cables require no bus termination.
A maximum of 64 Slaves incl. Master can be connected.
The maximum transmission rate without repeater(s) depends on the transmission rate:
Transmission rate
125 kBd
250 kBd
500 kBd

Hiperface
Hiperface stands for High Performance Interface and is the standard interface for motor feedback
systems from SICK STEGMANN.
This interface was developed especially for the requirements of digital drive control and provides users
with uniform and simplified mechanical and electric interfaces.
Electric drives require the following information from corresponding sensors in a closed loop, depending
on the model and application:
Incremental position information
Absolute position information during several rotations
All of this information can be transferred via Hiperface.
8.2.6
CANopen
The complementation of CANopen is based on the specification CIA-301. The encoder profile CIA-406 is
not supported.
CANopen-specific settings
VendorName=SICK AG Advanced Industrial Sensors
VendorNumber=0x02000056
ProductName=DME4000_5000
ProductNumber=1
RevisionNumber=1
These settings are included in the EDS file (Electronic Data Shield): DME_4000_5000_xx9.EDS. The
EDS file is valid for all variants DME4000-XX9.
Settings on the Display
Over the display Node-ID and Baudrate can be set. Default value of the Node-ID is “006” and can be
changed between “001” and “127”. Default value of the Baudrate is “125 kBaud” and can be changed
between 125 kBaud, 250 kBaud, 500 kBaud and 1 MBaud.
Settings of Node-ID and Baudrate at the display are valid after a restart of the DME.
Reduced menu structure
The DME4000 is only available with one M12 connector, so only relevant settings are part of the menu.
Menu items “MF1”, “MF2” and “serial” are removed. The numbering of the menu is identical with the
standard DME4000 and the manual.
