Functions and Handling of the Craft Terminal
(CT)
Introductory Note
The current Manual supports equipment running Rel. 3.1 and replaces the previous Manual
supporting Rel. 3.0. From this Release the CT presentation has been significantly changed using
more modern SW technology to support screen presentation, with the purpose to make more user
friendly the use of CT and to increase the CT capabilities with the addition of new functions.
Note:
The new CT is therefore quite different from the previous version and in case of migration to Rel.3.1
proper operator training has to be planned.
2.1.
Overview
The equipment is composed by on Outdoor Unit (ODU) and an Indoor Equipment (IDU).
IDU is used to indicate the following types of Indoor units.
PSE:
the User/Network Equipment is connected to the ODU via an Indoor Power Supply
Equipment (PSE). This configuration supports IP traffic (up to about 400 Mbps) entering the
system through a GE interface. Two variants of PSE can be used PSE/W or PSE/L (see
TED RADIOLINK EVOLUTION cap. 2.2.3 and 2.2.4)
The PSE provides to the system:
power feeding
interface for a LCT locally connected to the equipment
visual indications (LED) and housekeeping signals
PoE:
unit supplied by the customer providing power feeding to the ODU.
For more details about the different system configurations please refer to TED – Cap. 2.3.
In the following reference is made to the basic configurations as shown in Fig. 2.1.
The CT (Operating Terminal) can be connected in Local Mode (LCT) to the LCT port on PSE to
supervise the local terminal of the radio link (local terminal) or the remote terminal of the link
(remote terminal).
It is possible to configure the system to be supervised:
- by CT only: in this case the SNMP interface is inhibited and cannot control the equipment
- by OS and CT: an OS (connected via SNMP protocol) and CT work simultaneously and
there is no exclusion rule between the two.
