5.3. Updating the Tester firmware
When it is necessary to update the firmware, please contact the Tester manufacturer
(see “1.2. Technical Support”) and receive an update file. The update file is a binary file
named “sgfp_070.vnnn”, where “nnn” is the decimal number of firmware version.
Updating can be performed using the SGFPUpdater.exe program located in the
C:\tester\programs\SGFPUpdater\ folder as default. The USB driver should be installed
on this PC (see 5.1).
Connect the Tester to the PC using a standard USB cable (
the Tester should be
switched off!
). Press the Tester MEMORY button and, while holding the button, switch
on the Tester. The Tester gives a long audible signal, and the following message is
displayed on the Tester screen:
“USB operation…”,
then the Tester will execute instructions coming from the PC.
ATTENTION!
Prior to updating, make sure that the battery is charged, and, in case of operation
from the external power supply, confirm its good working order and reliability! Do
not switch off the Tester until the updating process is completed! Switching off in
the course of updating can result in failure of the Tester.
It is prohibited to switch off the PC, close the updater.exe program or disconnect
the USB cable until the updating process is completed!
Run the SGFPUpdater.exe program. The application window will open.
Next:
click “File” button in the program window – a dialogue window will appear;
specify the location of a new firmware file and click “Open” button in the dialogue
window;
click “Start” button in the program window.
Once programming is completed, the new Tester firmware will re-start, and the main
menu will be displayed on the screen of the Tester. Following this, the Tester operates
as normal.
To close the SGFPUpdater.exe program window, click “Exit” button.
