If required, it is possible to promptly edit the next string number using the LEFT and
RIGHT buttons, or to enter a new number for this string. To enter a number, press
ENTER (the “Next” field will be cleaned), enter the required number and press ENTER
to confirm or ESC to undo the entry. When entering a number, it is not necessary to
type-in nonsignificant zeroes in its higher-order part. Thus, to enter 00000040, it is
sufficient to press “4”, “0” and “ENTER”.
Figure 19
Beside string numbers, the top part of the table displays the following for reference use:
the geophone type, measurement temperature, string configuration and amount of
available space in the memory.
To run a sequence of tests, press the START-STOP button. As this takes place, the
string number moves from the “Next” field to the “String number” field, the number in the
“Next” field increases by 1 (if autoincrement of the string number is enabled),
the next
string number is stored in the nonvolatile memory
, following which performance of
the predefined sequence of tests starts. While testing is in progress, information on the
current operation is displayed in the bottom line of the screen, and the table is filled in.
The permissible ranges for values to be measured, which have been calculated in
conformity with the string configuration, geophone type and measurement temperature,
are given in square brackets. If any characteristic fails to meet the permissible
conditions, the related line is displayed in the inverse form (white text against black
background) and, depending on the “Continue test with reject” parameter value, testing
may be terminated.
If the polarity test is enabled, human intervention will be required, namely: it is
necessary to strike a gentle blow against each geophone in the string. As blows are
struck, the number of geophones with positive and negative polarities is displayed in
bottom (information) line. As soon as the Tester registers the number of blows equal to
the number of geophones in the string, the next test starts. Other tests are performed
without human intervention.
