INSPECTING
BURNERS
Check pilot flame pattern and burner patterns
PILOT FLAME PATTERN
Figure 17 shows a correct pilot
fl
ame pattern.
Figure 18 shows an incorrect pilot
flame
pattern.
The incorrect pilot flame is not touching the
thermocouple. This will cause the thermocouple
to cool. When the thermocouple cools, the heater
will shut down.
If pilot

Periodically inspect all burner

ame holes with the
heater running. All slotted burner

ame holes should
be open with yellow

ame present. All round burner
fl
ame holes should be open with a small blue

ame
present. Some burner
fl
ame holes may become
blocked by debris or rust, with no
fl
ame present. If
so, turn off heater and let cool. Remove blockage.

is incorrect, as shown in
