Build Plate Adhesion
covers parameters that help the model stick to the bed during the
print.
Build Plate Adhesion Type
provides four options:
•
Skirt
Traces around the perimeter of the print without touching it. This is
commonly used in order to prime the hot end. It prints only on the first layer.
Skirt
was used when printing the SeeMeCNC Blinky medallion.
•
Brim
Brim is similar to a Skirt, but actually contacts the edge of the model. This
is commonly used to artificially increase the surface area of a parts’ first layer in
order to improve bed adhesion. It prints only on the first layer.
•
Raft
When you select
Raft
, the Cura slicing engine will create a literal raft of
material that slightly exceeds the extents of the part you’re printing. A raft is only
a few layers high and your printed part will actually start printing once the top
surface of the raft has been printed. This is another strategy used to help
improve bed adhesion during a print. Below is an example of what the first layer
of a raft looks like as it is printed.
