7.3 After a crash
7.4 Unusual noises
After a crash or an accident, please check if parts of your
e-bike and the drive train are damaged. Potential risk of
breakage! Never try to straighten bent parts.
Have your e-bike checked by a specialist dealer. If defects
can’t be ruled out completely the parts in question have
to be replaced.
!
If unusual noises can’t be stopped, contact your specialist
dealer early to avoid possible damages to your e-bike in
the long run.
!
If parts of the e-bike system are visibly damaged (cables,
drive unit, battery) danger of an electrical shock might
be imminent! Never try to repair components yourself.
Contact your MAHLE dealer.
Rattling noises:
If the cause of rattling noises can’t be localised, check the following parts
for loose fasteners:
• handlebar
• stem
• brake calipers
• kickstand
• valve nuts of the inner tubes
• mudguards
• front and rear rack
Retighten loose bolts with the appropriate torque (chapter 10 on page
83).
Clicking noises:
Clicking noises can be caused by insufficient use of assembly paste.
Always apply assembly paste to the contact surfaces of the following
bolted connections:
• handlebar – stem
• seat post – frame
• saddle rails – seat post
• pedals – crankarms
Grinding noises:
Grinding noises occur when a moving part of the e-bike rubs against a
stationary part or when debris is caught in the drive train or between tyre
and mudguard. Examine your e-bike for the following causes of noise:
• Does one or both brake discs rub against the brake pads in a manner
causing the spinning wheel to slow down?
• Do parts of the mudguards touch the tyres?
If one or more of these things apply to your e-bike, please contact your
specialist dealer for adjustment or repair.
