7 MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
The safety information from section 2 “Sicherheit” must be observed.
DANGER!
Hazard from malfunction!
Incorrect assembly of the magnetic circular chuck can cause a malfunction of the
machine.
This can cause crushing and jamming points, posing a risk of crushing for
limbs.
Objects can be ejected, causing serious injuries and even death.
■
Have troubleshooting carried out only be qualified personnel.
■
The magnetic circular chuck must always be securely attached to the
work surface of the machine tool. Check after assembly!
■
Re-attach safety devices correctly.
DANGER!
Risk of crushing!
There is a risk of limbs being crushed by the magnetic circular chucks
tipping over or falling due to incorrect installation and removal of the
magnetic circular chucks.
■
Secure the magnetic circular chucks against falling or tipping over.
■
When lifting the magnetic circular chucks, only use suitable and
approved lifting gear and slings which are designed for the weight
of the magnetic circular chucks.
■
Have troubleshooting carried out only be qualified personnel.
DANGER!
Risk of electric shock!
The magnetic holding force is switched on and off with current pulses.
Electro permanent magnetic circular chucks use high magnetising and demag-
netising voltages. An electric shock can result in death or serious injuries.
■
Before maintenance and cleaning work, always disconnect the electro
permanent magnetic circular chucks from the power supply.
■
Always protect the junction box and rubberised cable against damage.
■
To exclude malfunctions and hazards for the operator, it must be ensured
that the junction box is sealed, in particular during wet work and after
any repair work. The same applies to connectors, current transmitters, slip
ring assemblies and carbon brush holders.
■
If the magnet has a connector, only unplug this once the demagnetising
cycles has been completed and the red signal light is permanently on.
Risk from electric arc.
Before each use
■
Conduct a visual inspection of the magnetic circular chuck.
■
Check that the pole plate is clean.
■
Carry out a visual check of the electrical connection with cable, junction box and (if fitted) slip ring assembly
and carbon brush holder. These have to be free from moisture and dirt.
At regular intervals
■
Finely dress the pole plate depending on wear. Observe the maximum machining thickness of the pole plate as
per section 3 “Technical specifications”.
■
Check the pole plate as to whether the fastening threads for the pole plate have been exposed after continued
machining.
■
Check the underside of the magnet for contact corrosion.
