5. Click “OK”.
You have now installed two new drives under
“This computer” / “My Computer”. One is called
Public and can be accessed by all users. The
other is called AP and can be protected with a
fingerprint.
NB: It may be necessary to restart the computer
for the new drives to be visible.
5 Setup
5.1 Setting up a fingerprint
1. Open the AP drive.
2. Start the file “FingerVerify”.
3. Click the finger you want to use for your
fingerprint. Click “Next”.
4. Now you need to scan your fingerprint. Move
your finger over the sensor on the box as
follows: Position the finger you selected in
step 3 so that the sensor is approx. 1 cm below
the top joint of the finger and pull it slowly
towards you while you maintain contact with
the sensor. It is important that you move your
finger straight and accurately over the sensor.
You have eight attempts to get the sensor to
verify your fingerprint. Once it has been
verified, you receive the message OK.
5. Click “End”.
5.2 Setting up a password
You must now set up a password which can be
used as an alternative way to access your data.
1. In the Hint field you can enter a word or phrase
to help you remember the password.
2. Enter a password of between 4 and 16
characters in the New Password (4-16
characters) field.
3. Re-enter your chosen password in the Confirm
New Password field.
5.3 Verification of fingerprint
As the pop-up window indicates, you must move
your finger over the sensor on the box as
described in step 5.1.4. Once your fingerprint
has been approved, you receive the message
“O”. If it cannot be verified you receive the
message “X”. After five failed attempts you can
log on using the password created in step 5.2.
You now have access to the new drive which
has been renamed Security.
It may be necessary to follow this procedure in
order to open the Security drive:
1. Double-click the Security drive and then
double-click “FingerVerify”. Fingerprint
verification loads.
2. Move your finger over the sensor on the box
as described in step 5.1.4. Alternatively, click
“Password” and enter your password here.
3. Re-open the Security drive and you will have
access to your data.
6 Use of fingerprint software
You now have a new icon in your notification
area. When you click the icon you have the option
of configuring various settings.
6.1 Further configuration of fingerprint
verification
1. Select User Setting and then click “Fingerprint
registration”.
2. Move your finger over the box as described
in step 5.1.4 in order to prove that you are the
correct user. Alternatively, click “Password”
and enter your password here.
